Writing a simple anaylser indicator
I cant download the file?? some error on page?
Hi Andrew,
The file can be downloaded, but the extension part of the file might have what’s called an association on your computer. So instead of the file just being downloaded, a particular program on your computer is downloading the file. (Which it shouldn’t be doing in this instance.)
I’d suggest that you right click on the file and select the Save Target option and set the location where to save the file. As discussed in the video. That should work for you.
If not, feel free to call or e-mail our technical support guys.
THANK YOU Aaron, very interesting, for those of us who have had nothing to do previously with the relevance of sectors to particular stocks, and which ones c0-relate to others, and what this means for particular stocks,
this is very very helpful in our continual growing education
thank you and looking forward to more like this.
Sue
Leon, thank you for your recordings. They are very helpful to those
of us who are struggling to cope with all this volatility in the current
market climate and your recordings are always intersting the so
helpful and building on our continual quest for knowledge and training…
Sue
very educational – you have a great voice for this type of recording.
Hi AAron,
Excellent presentations. I like your use of simple indicators and pattern recognition along with your overall approach – nothing complicated.
Regards,
Dick.
Great presentation. Although I look at the USA S&P, DJI and NASDAQ, I had never really looked at the individual sector indices so learned something new.
Could Aaron explain the two indicators that he had on thecharts below the price chart – advance/decline volume and ???. Did not quite catch the names.
I have enjoyed both his presentations this week.
Regards,
Klaus
Hi Klaus,
The two indicators are Advancing Issues Ratio and Advancing Volume Ratio. Advancing issue ratio calculates how many stocks have closed higher on a daily basis as percentage of all stocks. Advancing volume ratio calculates the amount of volume that is advancing on a daily basis as a percentage of all volume. Craig tells me he is looking to add these to the MA in the coming months.

Aaron

Aaron hi l have been watching rinker for some time waiting for it to break outand have now gone long, so your constructive comments and l agree with Bills comments and l thank you for the time and effort you are putting in to help educate others keep up the good work. Doug
I liked your straightforward analysis of Rinker Aaron and your willingness to make a prediction on the direction of the price from here. Very good!
Hi Aaron,
Thanks for the report it’s appreciated,I still have plenty to learn and would like to know more about the bond markets and their influence on our stock markets. Is there a book that deals with this? I can add it to the mountain of other reading material I’m trying to get through.
Currently I’m just starting Edwards and Magee 8th edition.
Looking forward to your next report.
Cheers Ian
Hi Leon,
Once again Thank you for your Commonsense approach to trading.
Love your Presentations, Keep up the top job.
Hi Aaron.
Thanks for the update. I enjoy your broad view approach. The recording stopped abruptly after the Russell 2000. There was no discussion of the ASX as stated at the beginning. Just letting you know in case it was a glitch.
Regards.
Hi Aaron, thanks for your very informative update. Couple of questions,
may we ask what charting programme you are using to enable you to use
the 4 indicators you show….particularly interested in the last one….Vix or Bix oscillator??? not heard of this before….is it available thru the Anaylser Pro?
How does one know when the Insto’s are buying Put Options? Is it the
fact that these indicators show overbought?
Sue
Hi Pat,
Thanks for that. I had some tech issues which have now been sorted out.
Hi Susan,
I spoke with Craig and he said he could make these indicators available for the MA if there was enough demand. His email address is craig@mdsnews.com.
Daily statitics for call and put option volume can be located at http://www.cboe.com/data/mktstat.aspx
An overbought market and put option volumes are generally not correlated. However, when they do line up together it does suggest some selling is likely.

Aaron
Hi Ian,
A good read is:

Very Good work, Keep them coming!

Aaron
Your perspective is very interesting. Many thanks.
It appears that the content is still not complete however as suggested by Pat previously. I found no discussion regarding ASX stock.
Regards Wayne
Hi Wayne,
Due to some technical difficulties on my part I lost the back half of the video recording. I believe I have the issue fixed and should be able to provide a complete recording with the next update.

Aaron
Aaron thanks for your very informative presentations, l was interested in your remarks on trade management l do have problems at times with stops on cfd trades, do you have any advice on how you manage your stops. doug
Hi Doug,
It’s a big subject. If you are having trouble taking stops I suggest setting automatic (hard) stop losses with your CFD provider. Once you enter your trade the next action should be to place the automatic (hard) stop. Then let the computer do the work. That way you are not responsible for exiting the trade. I use automatic stops all the time. It prevents me from giving the stop room, then praying the trade turns around.
In the end it really comes down to a change in the belief about stops. Most traders I speak to, consider stops a bad thing and have programmed themselves to act on their belief – by not taking the loss quickly.
In fact, taking a stop should be viewed as the most profitable action a trader can take.
If you like I could put together a small presentation, where I talk about the numbers, ratios, thought processes, pros and cons. Let me know…
Regards
Aaron
Hi Aaron, great recording again. So helpful and intersting info.
Thank you for these recording, please keep them coming.
Your helpful comments on the charts is also great. Your comments on getting into fast moving stocks also helpful. We learn so much each time
we watch your recordings. Have just registered into the wordpress blogs and am still trying to fathom out how to use it….thank you for answering my questions in my last post..have only just found them….thanks
Sue
Hi Aaron,
thank you, very interesting information and pointers on
what to be watchful for.
Thank you for explaining a bit more about the indicator you used.
Sue
Leon hi thank you for todays session, it has been a while since l did my training with the SMC and todays session is a reminder of what we should be doing, a session on retracement at some time in the future would be appreciated. Thanks again Doug Pridham
Leon what settins did you use on Accumulation
Leon,
1. where do we see your responses to other questions, such as dougp’s second question above ?
2. I basically use your stratergy explained in this session, but also like to check on a company’s PE before proceeding. I have a rule not to enter if PE is greater than 20. Not sure why i follow this rule … but ?? Do you believe that a company’s PE is a relevent entry criteria, or how do you see it used. Also, when accessing the “menu/fundamentals/info” data to get this info, is the PE figure shown there fixed at the company’s last return, or is it current ? If not current, how can we get this info …. assuming that you think it is relevent.
A session on relevence & use of the PE to assist with decisions to enter a trade when indicators bring it up would be great.
robert a
where or how do l turn the cache file on & off thanks
Hi
Thanks for your email
If you select Analysis from the Menu the Analyser Window opens.
As each option window opens ( in this case Analyser) .. the of Top Window of MA
Will change to:
File Analyser Windows Help
Selecting the Analyser menu releases the popdown menu items available.
In this case the third menu item from the Analyser Menu is:
Cached Results
This option toggles on/off/on/off etc
Make sure that there is no ticked box to the left side of this menu item.
Nice feature for those who want it, but not sure why anybody wants it.
I’m still waiting for a plotted script to show stoploss point.(see developers forum)
Richard
I know it’s not as fun, but how about fixing some of the long-standing bugs instead of adding new features?
I’m thinking specifically of memory leaks, which are actually easy to track down (hint: google for “delphi memory debug” without quotes).
Also there are still random crashes (as there have been since I subscribed in 2005), which I suspect I could help with if you would let me access the source code. Nobody’s as motivated to fix bugs as a frustrated user (who’s also a Delphi developer).
Pivot points trading is very popular for Floor Traders and Institutions but Market Analyser still has not got that yet even though it was widely available on popular software like TradeStation, eSignal, TradeNavigator, etc. Could you advise when will the Daily/Weekly/Monthly Pivot Points be available on Market Analyser? It is such an easy thing to be implemented so why not make it available ASAP? If possible, please make drawing (and cross over) of Moving Average using n days Pivot Points available at the same time and it would be quite a power tool for Traders to use. Thank you and looking forward to your earlier acceptance of my suggestion.
HI Craig,
I love it, very neat…now if the fib lines were adjustable like that…man oh man…that would be somfin
WD
Wolfgang
Craig,
All improvements to the MA Pro are welcome. You and the team are doing a great job in delivering features to a very diverse membership while improving the stability of the program.
Your continued efforts are appreciated.
Regards
Shannon
I agree with Hugh, fix some bugs.
Richard,
We’d like to spend some time focussed on the trading system area, which would include better integration with the chart both from historical back testing reports and current trading activity. But there are a number of different areas that we’d like to focus on with the program. We’re planning on putting those ideas into a survey to send around to clients, to get some feedback on where we’re best focussing our attention.
Hugh,
This release includes quite a number of bug fixes already. The prior release did some work on memory leaks, but we’re holding off on that until the new communications system is included in the program. The current system (being a remote COM based system) has made it very difficult to work with from a memory leak point of view. I agree that they are normally easy to track down, none of our server systems have any issues in this area, for example. As to source code, before we were a public company, this might have been possible, but there’s a lot more hoops (And people involved) now that we’d need to sort out to be able to do something like this. Later this year, I might be interested in a short term contract, which would be more formal.
Samho,
Do you have a web site that describes how you’d like to use Pivot Points? We have had a brief look at them in the past and I agree that they wouldn’t be too difficult to implement, it only comes down to priorities and what we consider, from the feedback we receive, to be more important than another idea. If you discuss this with Customer Service, then they can record the issue so that it can be discussed (or update the existing record to reflect the demand), possibly include the feature in the next survey and then be addressed.
Wolfgang,
Thanks for the feedback. We intend for all of the drawing indicators to work in the same way, as we release updates throughout the year. We just want to ensure that we get it right first, with this small subset. Especially with the new toolbar and repeat drawing functionality, though not forgetting the resize/move operations too.
Shannon,
Thanks for very much, we appreciate you taking the time to write that.
Michelle,
Please provide feedback to our customer service team on your specific bugs, they may be able to provide feedback as to whether they’ve been addressed in this release already, or help give priority to particular issues. As I mentioned in my original post, there’s been considerable work on the known bugs in this release too. The last four releases in the last six months of last year were all focussed on just bug fixes. We now want to start including some new features too.
HI Craig
Any chance of seeing a Fibonacci fan included with the indicators. Its not all that different from the current Gann Fan, just uses Fibonacci levels instead if ratios as per the Gann Fan.
Thanks
Craig M
Hi Craig,
What do you mean by “local database”. Will we be able to download or update cache chart data for the exchange?
“Update Data” facility for “off line” usage in current version still does not work!!!
Yes, I called support three times now in the space of three weeks and tried to follow advice given to no avail.
All I can get is about 60 bars of daily data (3k files in Chart Chache folder).
Craig, Support claims contrary to your statement on the forum that, this is not supposed to work. MA6 is designed to work in “on-line” mode only.
If can not get EOD market data on my hard disk, what do I actually pay for? Ability to view charts using data from the remote site?
Regards
Richard
